Daily horoscopes offer broad direction, but when you need detailed answers about specific people—friends, bosses, romantic partners—many turn to tarot cards. A tarot reading can complement any astrological reading, especially when you have a focused question about an event or person in your daily life. What some may not realize is that tarot also carries zodiac influences: each sign is linked to particular cards. Below is a guide to identifying zodiac energies and the people they may represent in your tarot spread.

Aries: The Emperor

The Emperor embodies leadership, much like Aries. He makes swift, sound decisions and governs his realm with authority, often relying on analysis to accomplish the task. When Aries energy is present in your life—or if you are an Aries needing to take charge—this card may surface in a reading. Another indicator of Aries energy is the King of Wands.

Taurus: The Hierophant

Taurus is practical, traditional, and typically does the right thing. As an earth sign, Taurus is rooted in old-school methods and conservative tradition. When the Hierophant appears, Taurus energy may be nearby. Taurus can also show up as the Queen of Pentacles—a wise, traditional woman whose gardens and life are lush and abundant with everything she needs for contentment.

Gemini: The Lovers

Gemini, the mutable air sign, often goes two ways at once. Decisions dominate their world, so the Lovers card in a reading may point to Gemini energy. Geminis can make a big deal out of every choice—selecting a restaurant on Saturday night might take hours. This is the dilemma of the Lovers: abundance awaits upon the right decision. The Knight of Swords may also appear if Gemini energy is important at the time of the reading.

Cancer: The Chariot

Cancer is ruled by the Moon and is sometimes denoted by the Moon card. However, many tarot readers cite the Chariot as the go-to card for Cancer energy. Cancer is hardworking and motivated to succeed, and the Chariot represents victory and success after a period of hard work. As a cardinal sign, Cancer leads the way to success in their life and in the lives of those around them. Security is key for Cancer, and this is the promise of the Chariot. You may also see the Queen of Cups if Cancer energy is significant. The Empress—the eternal matriarch of the zodiac who rules family, children, fertility, or women's matters—may also signal that a Cancer is near in your reading.

Leo: Strength

The Strength card is depicted with a lion and thus symbolizes lovable Leo. Bravery, courage, and passionate energy appear in both the Strength card and Leo. This card also marks loyalty and complete control over your world and situation. When Strength appears, a loyal Leo may be near. Leo is also ruled by the Sun, so the Sun card may announce a Leo in your life. You may also see the King of Wands if Leo energy is affecting your life.

Virgo: The Hermit

Virgo, the mutable earth sign, is practical and quiet. Virgo is also deeply reflective and gives everything careful thought. Quietly spiritual, Virgo is ideally symbolized by the Hermit card. The Hermit moves slowly and takes time to find answers within. If the Hermit appears in a reading, a message from or about Virgo is possible. The Knight of Pentacles may also arrive if a message from Virgo is relevant to your question.

Libra: Justice

Libra, the cardinal air sign, is known to rule peace and harmony. Libra dislikes conflict and presides over it gracefully. Thus, Libra is marked by the Justice card in tarot, symbolizing balance, the scales of justice, and diplomacy. If Justice appears in your reading, Libra energy could be important to your question. The Queen of Swords may also appear when you need an answer about Libra.

Scorpio: Death

The zodiac sign most often quoted saying “they are dead to me” is Scorpio. Cross a Scorpio and hell hath no fury, but they will cut you out in a heartbeat before explaining why—or even without explaining, because Scorpio flees drama. Scorpio can be dramatic but removes it from their life quickly. If Death appears in your tarot reading, do not be alarmed; you may simply have some Scorpio energy at play. Scorpio is about powerful transformations, and the Death card brings this promise, as well as the promise of a sunny horizon.

Sagittarius: Temperance

Sagittarius, the mutable fire sign, is a philosopher ruled by the big, expansive Jupiter. Sagittarius learns about the world's great mysteries by exploring it, most often through travel. This makes Temperance the card that symbolizes Sagittarius. Temperance denotes harmony and balance, a constant flow of energy and unconditional love. When Temperance appears in your tarot reading, you may be getting a message about Sagittarius. The Knight of Wands—also a traveler or someone with foreign connections—may also be a sign of Sagittarius in your reading.

Capricorn: The Devil

Capricorn, the cardinal earth sign, is made up of born leaders. Capricorn is also traditional and most of the time does things the right way, or not at all. Sometimes the Devil gets the better of them, making the Devil card the symbol of Capricorn. The Devil card asks you to release these shadow acts, but it could also simply mean a Capricorn is near with a message. The King of Pentacles may also appear to symbolize Capricorn in your tarot reading.

Aquarius: The Star

Aquarius, the fixed air sign, is ruled by Uranus. This makes Aquarius a little quirky and occasionally out of this world. The Star card marks exactly that—wonderful surprises in store that are truly out of this world, in a good way. The arrival of the Star in your reading could suggest an important Aquarius in your life and sends the message that beautiful things are pending in your world.

Pisces: The Moon

Pisces, the mutable water sign, is one of the most emotional zodiac signs. Sometimes their emotions are all over the place, and when that happens, Pisces usually retreats. If the Moon card appears in your tarot reading, Pisces energy may be near. The Moon card represents pulling back from a situation to see the bigger picture. Often information is missing or unavailable to the querent at the time of the reading. The Moon could, however, simply represent a Pisces as the source of that needed information. Sometimes Pisces is also symbolized by the Knight of Cups bearing messages of love.

The great thing about tarot cards is that anyone can become a reader. Even if you're simply doing a daily tarot reading for yourself or your friends, it just takes the right knowledge and some practice. And provide your tips for newcomers! The more people who rely on tarot for everyday guidance, the more in tune we all become.
